Ken was born on November 27, 1925 in Sully, Iowa to Bert and Grace Shutts. He was the youngest of five children.
On September 19, 1946, Ken married Rosemary Upton and they shared 71 wonderful years together. Ken and Rosemary would have celebrated their 72nd anniversary this month.
In 1981, Ken retired from Maytag as a tool and die maker and also as an insurance salesman specializing in policies designed for farmers to guard against crop damage due to hailstorms. He enjoyed 37 years of retirement in Arizona. Ken loved to play golf and was proud of making three holes in one. He enjoyed playing bridge, exercising at the Cottonwood Country Club facility in Sun Lakes, visiting with the “snowbirds”, and Cardinal’s football; he was a season ticket holder for years. He and Rosemary enjoyed traveling and went every place in the world they wanted to. In his younger years, Ken would do anything to help others. He was known to say, “Just give me a call and I’ll be there”. Ken was a life member of the Fraternal Order of Elks for the past 67 years.
Ken will be greatly missed by his wife, nieces, nephews and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings.
A Funeral Mass with be held at St Steven’s Catholic Church, 24827 S Dobson Rd., Sun Lakes, AZ, 85248 on Friday, September 21, 2018 at 10:00am with a reception immediately following.
