He is survived by his wife of almost 66 years, Ivalee. He also is survived by his children, Joseph (and spouse Donna) Kirby and Deborah (and spouse William) Coppola. He also is survived by grandchildren Christopher and Matthew Coppola.
He also is fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.
Joseph had a long career as an ironworker, where he helped construct many prominent buildings in the Detroit metro area, and, on occasion, ventured as far as New York City to work on construction projects.
When he decided to “retire” from the construction industry, he and his wife relocated to Arizona. In Arizona, he launched a new career as a furniture upholsterer and enjoyed great success in his new profession.
Joseph and his wife enjoyed traveling. They particularly liked the numerous trips they made around the United States in their RV. They probably passed through or stopped in almost every state in the contiguous U.S. during their years of RV travel. They also took vacations to destinations in Mexico, Canada, Europe and Australia, and took many cruise ship trips over the years.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org.
