James Wesley Shields, the son of Benjamin Franklin Shields and Vera Viola (Hemperly) Shields was born on June 29, 1945 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He Graduated from Steel High School, and upon graduation he joined the Navy to serve in the Vietnam War.
Upon returning from the Navy Jim worked for the State of Pennsylvania and was very active in the National Organization of the Jaycee’s. He was President of the Colonial Country Club and actively involved in Junior Golf and coaching of Little League Baseball.
After moving to Arizona he worked as a Starter/Ranger at several golf courses and was a Realtor in the State of Arizona. His hobbies were Bridge, Golf and Gourmet Cooking in his retirement years.
Jim passed away at the Dobson House Hospice Facility in Chandler, Arizona on December 27, 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Don and Ben Shields.
Left to cherish his memory are his significant other Cathy Tomlinson of Maricopa, Arizona, his son and wife, Lance and Chianne Shields and two grandchildren, Alex and Xavier Shields of Boiling Springs, Pennsylvania, His Brother and significant other Robert Shields and Ester Byrd of Highspire, Pennsylvania, one sister and husband Delbert and Vera Freet of Elizabeth Town, Pennsylvania, and other relatives and many friends.
