Fiore John Pavoni was born on November 9, 1928, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and passed away with family by his side on May 16, 2022. Fiore is survived by his wife Angeline (Jean), sons Anthony, Eli, (Karen), Christopher, (Lynn), daughter Donna Lemayski, (Stanley), and son Thomas Pavoni, (Gabriela). Grandchildren, Daniel (Hannah), Nathan (Dana), Lee (Diana), Joseph, Angelo, and Stella. Sister, Irene Beck, and great-grandchildren Sophia, Leah, Aubrey, Naomi, Luca, Arista, and Adam. His predeceased parents were Anthony Pavoni born in the Abruzzi region of Italy, and Concetta Sansaveri Pavoni of New Jersey. Also predeceased by his brother Nicholas, (Nicky).
Fiore married his beloved wife of 71 years, Angeline (Jean) Rita Monzo on June 3, 1950. He and Jean went on to raise a family of five children in the southern New Jersey town of Glen Oaks, (Laurel Springs). Fiore was a trained machinist, and barber working primarily for the Langston Company, an international manufacturer of machinery used to produce cardboard boxes. Fiore moved up from machinist to the Quality Control Department and became a senior Quality Control Inspector for the company. He later learned the barbering trade and would become the de facto barber for many of his co-workers at Langston.
Fiore enjoyed taking his family on long summer vacations to his mother Connie’s home by the Delaware Bay at the Villas near Cape May N.J. His greatest joy was spending time with his large family as much as he could since being the sole bread winner required him to sometimes work multiple jobs. In retirement he spent many summers with wife Jean enjoying their summer home in Ocean City N.J. A perfect morning to Fiore was just a relaxing stroll to the beach on a Sunday morning and picking-up cinnamon rolls and coffee on the way back.
In 2002 Fiore and Jean sold the family home in Laurel Springs, New Jersey and decided to move to Sun City Arizona following their son Tom who had already made the move west. The move proved to be beneficial to his health and longevity. Fiore, who worked so hard to support a family of seven enjoyed many of life’s simple pleasures and found them in his new life in Arizona. For the last two decades until his recent failing health he enjoyed his weekly early morning bocce games with his friends. Always the kidder, Fiore fit right in with the bocce guys who thought it great fun to kid him back, teasingly with great affection naming him “Godfather.” He also loved activities he could do with the love of his life Jean like bowling leagues together, and especially dinner and dancing nights at the Italian American Club in Sun City. Fiore especially will be remembered for his strong voice and his fiery spirit that served to strengthen everyone he met. He will be missed by his family and friends, but his memory will forever remain in our hearts.
A Mass of Resurrection is planned for Fiore Pavoni on Friday, June 3rd at 10 am at Saint Juan Diego Catholic Church, followed by the rite of committal at Valley of the Sun Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint Juan Diego Catholic Church in Chandler AZ.
