Carolyn Bowers-Lee was born on December 4, 1945, to Albert and Maude Esther (Brewer) Bowers in Little Rock, Arkansas, the 7th of 10 siblings. She accepted Christ at an early age and was reared in a loving Christian home.
On Tuesday, August 28, 2018, Carolyn, affectionately called “Carol” left her earthly tabernacle and went home to be with the Lord.
Carol attended elementary school in Little Rock, Arkansas and Chicago, Illinois. She graduated from Manual High School in 1964. She attended Metropolitan Jr. College for a short period of time before enlisting in the United States Navy in October, 1968. Carol served as a hospital medic at the Bethesda Naval Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland.
Upon discharged from the USN, she returned home to Kansas City, Missouri and pursed further education at Penn Valley Community College receiving her Associate of Arts Degree with honors in May, 1974. Later in the fall of that year, she enrolled in the University of Missouri – Kansas City and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology in 1976.
Carol worked for the State of Missouri for two years before deciding to relocate to Los Angeles, California, in January, 1978. God opened many door for Carol during this season of her life. She obtained a position with the Los Angeles County probation office and moved up the ranks to management of Children Services, where she served for 30 years, retiring December 16, 2008.
With respect to her service with L.A. County, she shared her greatest satisfaction came from knowing that she had a hand in re-shaping and re-directing the lives of the children who came in her department.
On August 8, 1975, Carol married Albert Clayton Lee. To this union was born a daughter, Christina Marie Lee.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Albert & Maude Esther Bowers, Rosie Lee Bowers-Flemister, May Ella Bowers, Brenda Joyce Bowers and brother, Durtha L. Bowers.
Her favorite song was “I’ve got a feeling everything gonna be alright.”
Carol lived, laughed and loved genuinely. She spoke her mind and yet at the same time she was a generous, caring and happy person. She truly liked helping others see their potential.
Carol leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Albert Clayton Lee of 43 years, her daughter, Christina Marie Lee, her sister, Mary L. Moorer of Sacramento, California; her two brothers, Albert Bowers, Jr. of Kansas City, Kansas; and Robert James Bowers (Hilary) of San Antonio, TX; one aunt, Georgia Beasley of Marianna, Arkansas, a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, numerous cousins, as well as many good friends.
Be happy for me! I am absent from the body BUT present with the Lord! Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal.
