IN THE CARE OF Valley of the Sun Mortuary & Cemetery
Our Beloved Patriarch known as “Bill” & “Irish” Allison, passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at the age of 95, surrounded in Love and Care at his home in Rimrock Arizona.
He was an incredibly gifted Man, Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Uncle and Best Friend who honored his Divine Creator. He is survived by his Son, Michael William Allison, Daughter, Sandra Kay Allison, Granddaughters’, Carrie Becerra & Meghan Cana, Grandson, Justin Allison, Great-granddaughter, Irene Moroney, Aubrey Allison, Great-grandson Zackary Allison and pre-ceded in death by his twin brother Robert Allison, his daughter, Sharon Lynn Allison and his beloved wife of 69 years, Carmela Allison. He was a joy and a bright light in our lives… we will miss him dearly.
He was born in Wheeling West (By God) Virgina and as a young boy after the flood of “36” his family had to return to Belfast Ireland where he and his twin brother were schooled and actually lived through what was known as the “Belfast Blitz” bombing in WW2. When they became18, they had to return to America to reclaim their birthright or stay in Ireland and join the Queen’s Navy. His parents knew there wasn’t much of a future for them in Northern Ireland and encouraged their journey back to America on a merchant marine ship where they worked their way across the ocean and entered through Ellis Island. He never forgot his parents sacrifice to make sure that he and his brother had a better life and he truly appreciated it, but he always regretted that he never got to see his dad again.
Very soon he ended up in Bellaire Ohio where he met and married the Love of his life, Carmela! They were a very brave couple and in 1961 he and his friend, Jack made their way to California, stayed with the Connors and got jobs. Six months later, Carmela with her 3 children and with Theresa and her 3 children they made their way across the country on the train to begin a new life in Southern California. They built a good life for their family and settled in Pico Rivera, California where they made many friends, working, bowling, square dancing all over the world, going on cruise ships and bus tours, he loved to have fun! He loved volunteering at the Whittier Presbyterian Hospital for years.
In 2006 they moved to Arizona where he continued to make many friends and touch many lives with his fun sense of humor, his love of storytelling and wine drinking, ensuring that he had many enduring friendships. He loved anything and everything Irish, NCIS and The Good Witch…. He loved to write poems, make cards and he loved life and truly lived it to the fullest!!!
He used to say Heaven don’t want me and hell is afraid I’ll take over! Dad…. May you be in Heaven a half hour before the devil knows you’re dead! We Love You!
