Rose Taranto Hardouin passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at the age of 81. She is the cherished wife of 61 years to Charles Hardouin. Loving mother of Brian Hardouin (Kathleen) and Michele Frey (Robert). Daughter of the late Angelo and Anna Taranto. Sister of A.J. Taranto (Kathy). Proud grandmother of Deacon Adam Frey, Darren Frey (Becca), Louis Hardouin, Olivia Hardouin, Philip Hardouin and Michael Hardouin. Great grandmother of Joseph Frey and Pia Frey. She is also survived and fondly remembered by many relatives, cousins and dear friends.
Born in New Orleans, LA, Rose spent many years in St. Bernard Parish before settling in Madisonville, LA. She was a proud graduate of Chalmette High School. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she demonstrated her devotion by volunteering tirelessly at the St. Joseph’s Altar and St. Joseph Abbey. Her commitment to her faith was evident in every aspect of her life.
An exceptional cook, Rose delighted in preparing meals for her family and friends, bringing people together through her love of food. She also had a remarkable talent for sewing, creating beautiful Mardi Gras costumes, generously mending clothes for family and friends, and donating homemade doll clothes to charity. She was known for her kind nature and generous heart, touching the lives of everyone she met. Rose will be forever remembered as a loving and loyal wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She treasured her family above all and leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and generosity. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Friday, July 19th from 11:00AM – 1:00PM, followed by a Funeral Mass in Rose’s memory beginning at 1:00PM. She will be laid to eternal rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
