Bishop Owen McManus Sr

Bishop Owen McManus, Sr., joined our Heavenly Father on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at the age of 98. He was the loving husband for over 16 years to Paula Silva McManus. Proud father of Carol Ann Land (Doyle), Deborah Holland (Herman), Owen McManus, Jr. (Tammy) and Candace McManus; step- father to Israel Salas, Erik Salas and Victoria Salas; grandfather to Doyle Land, Jr., Jonathan Land, Jason Holland, Nathan Holland, Sr., Crystal Holland Auguillard, LaTriche Holland-James, Alexandra McManus Desvigne, Brooke McManus, Owen Liam McManus, Olivia McManus, Jessica Thompson Parker, Trey Calhoun and Lyric Calhoun Seaton; step-grandfather to 8 grandchildren. He was blessed with great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his first wife of 62 years, Alberta Vaughan McManus; by his parents, Oscar McManus and Thelma Cotton McManus; his grandson, Benjamin Land; his siblings, Dorothy Christine Barker, Flavius Ray McManus and Doyle McManus.

Bishop Owen was the founder of City Church. He loved worshiping and praising the Lord with all his heart. Bishop’s favorite scripture verse was Matthew 6:33. Even though he loved to preach, his most enjoyable moments was spending time with his beautiful wife and family. He will be deeply missed by us all, but his memory will live forever in our hearts.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at CITY CHURCH, 13123 I-10 Service Rd., New Orleans, LA on Friday, February 17, 2023 from 10:00 AM- 12:00 PM. A funeral service will begin at 12:00 PM. Burial will follow in St. Vincent De Paul Cemetery No. 3, 1401 Louisa Street, New Orleans, LA.
