Michael “Mike” Earl Voss passed away on Monday, February 22, 2016 at the age of 77. Beloved son of the late Marguerite Cope Voss and Arthur Clarke Voss. Loving father of Michael James Voss and the late Arthur Clarke Voss. Father-in-law of Morrie Voss. Brother of the late Roger Voss and Janice “Teeny” Voss Clark. Brother-in-law of the late Harold Clark. Proud grandfather of Michael James Earl Voss. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mr. Voss was a native of Quitman, Mississippi and a lifelong resident of St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana. He was a 1957 graduate of Quitman High School. Mr. Voss proudly served in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Germany and traveled to Morrocco. He was a member of the United Steelworkers of America and retired from Kaiser Aluminum after many years of service. Mr. Voss was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed vegetable gardening, hunting and fishing. He loved drinking coffee with friends and relaxing under his pecan tree. Mr. Voss will be forever remembered as a loving and thoughtful father, grandfather and friend, who was devoted to his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Special thanks to the physicians and caregivers of the New Orleans Veterans Administration Medical Facility. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at OUR LADY OF LOURDES CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2621 Colonial Boulevard, Violet, LA on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will begin at 12:00 PM. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at 2:00 PM in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Quitman, MS. Mr. Voss will be laid to rest with military honors.
