Born in New Orleans, LA, Marvin was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish prior to Hurricane Katrina and resided for 12 years in Tickfaw, LA before making his home with SummerHouse Park Provence in Slidell, LA. Marvin proudly served his country in the United States Army. In his early years, he worked with his father at WeeZee Boat Works, where they specialized in crafting all-wood Lafitte skiff boats - a trade that reflected both his skill as a Finish Carpenter and his woodworking ability. He later enjoyed a long career and retired as a Maintenance Foreman with Charity Hospital in New Orleans.
Marvin cherished time with family and friends, always going out of his way to be present in their lives. He was an avid bowler and fisherman, and he especially enjoyed lively card games with close companions. Watching his children and grandchildren participate in sports brought him tremendous joy, and his deep faith in God was a guiding force throughout his life.
Before Hurricane Katrina, Marvin was a dedicated parishioner of both Prince of Peace and later joined Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church in Chalmette. After relocating to Tickfaw, LA, he became an active member of Our Lady of Pompeii Catholic Church. Known for his good nature and kind heart, Marvin was deeply loved and respected by all who knew him. His warmth, humor, and unwavering devotion to those around him will be deeply missed.
The family of Marvin extends a special thank you to the staff of SummerHouse for their extraordinary care during his stay.
