Maria Pilar Jackson

Maria Pilar Jackson passed away on January 2, 2025 at the age of 85. She was the cherished wife of the late Federico Aguirre Jackson for 52 years. Loving mother of Laura Blanchard (Bobby), Sandra Wilson (Jay), Federico Jackson, Jr (Dee), Fina Jackson, John Jackson (Christina), Erica Bastoe (Corey) and the late Guillermo Jackson. Daughter of the late Manuel and Josefina Novelo Cano. Sister of Jose Cano, Reuben Cano, Carmen Cano Peraza and the late Alphonso and Alexandra Cano. Loving aunt to Rosa Bouterie. Cherished sister in law to Goldie Parson and Cheryl Perez. Proud Grandmother of Jessica Blanchard Battistella, Bobby Blanchard, Taylor Blanchard, Gabby Wilson, Trey Wilson, Zachary Wilson, Courtney Jackson Hebert, Christopher Jackson, Brooke Jackson, Logan Jackson, Reiss Jackson, EJ DeJean, Jonathan Bastoe, Madison Bastoe and Jaxon Bastoe. Great grandmother of Carter, Myles and Luke Blanchard, Collin and Maddox Battistella, Bryson, Sophia and Avelle Wilson, AJ Turni, Harper, Graham and Piper Wilson, Kenley and Clark Jackson, Calogero and GianCarlo Hebert, and Benjamin Plauche.

Maria was a native of Veracruz, Mexico and a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish. She will be fondly remembered as “everyone’s Maw Maw”. She was an honest, hardworking woman who never met a stranger. She enjoyed spending time with her family, scoring the best deals at Goodwill and loved her can of Coca-Cola. She could never be found without her signature black purse over her shoulder. Though she is no longer with us, her legacy lives on through cherished memories and the love she leaves behind. Maria was a parishioner of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, Chalmette LA. Special thanks to Interim Hospice, Frankie Maggiore and Tracy Billiot for their loving care.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held on Thursday, January 9, 2025 from 10:00AM – 1:00PM at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA 70043. A Funeral Service will begin at 1:00PM. She will be laid to rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
