It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Jonathan Michael Perez, a cherished son, brother, and friend, who left us too soon at the age of 26. He was a lifelong resident of St. Bernard Parish, and his presence will be profoundly missed by all who knew him. Jonathan is survived by his loving parents, Charlie J. Perez and Cherie Scott Perez; his grandfathers, Fred R. Perez and Paul E. Scott; his aunts, Michelle Scott Miller, Kim Perez Refre and Karen A. Perez; his uncles, David M. Miller and Fred R. Perez III; his cousins, Hallie M. Miller, Sarah N. Refre and Katie C. Refre and many other family, friends, colleagues, and students. He is preceded in death by his brother, Charlie J. Perez Jr.; his grandmothers, Carolyn Randazzo Perez and Cecile E. Jolet.
A proud graduate of Chalmette High School, Jonathan went on to earn a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of New Orleans. His academic journey was just the beginning of a life dedicated to learning, teaching, and inspiring others. He was a beloved teacher at Chalmette High School, where he touched the lives of countless students with his passion, patience, and encouragement. Outside of his professional life, Jonathan had a variety of interests that made him unique. He was a devoted fan of wrestling, an avid gamer, and had a deep love for reading. His fascination with Japanese culture, from anime to history, was a constant source of joy for him, and he eagerly shared his enthusiasm with those around him. Above all, Jonathan cherished his family. He found his greatest joy in spending time with loved ones, offering unwavering support, laughter, and love. His family was his foundation, and his bond with them was a testament to the kindness and warmth he radiated throughout his life. He leaves behind a legacy of compassion, knowledge, and an unshakeable love for those he held dear.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Saturday, December 21st from 11:00AM – 1:00PM, followed by a funeral in Jonathan’s memory beginning at 1:00PM. He will be laid to eternal rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
