Jay is survived by his two children, Lance Hebert and Linsey Hebert Michael (Alec). He was the son of Catherine “Cathy” Hebert, brother of Jeffrey Hebert (Catherine) and Jodie Hebert Woodruff (Jack), and brother-in-law of Gayle Favaza (Norman), Barbara Aiola (Russell), and Michael Gisevius (Penny). Jay is also survived by many nieces and nephews, with several referring to him as “Paran.”
Jay is preceded in death by his beautiful bride, Cynthia “Cindy” Hebert, as well as his father Gerard “Jerry” Hebert, Sr., mother-in-law Hilda Gisevius, and father-in-law Gerald Gisevius.
Jay was born in New Orleans to Jerry and Cathy Hebert on July 8, 1959. He was a proud graduate of Chalmette High School, where he excelled in sports, with baseball being his passion until later meeting his beloved Cindy. He and Cindy married in 1990, and remained inseparable for 31 amazing years. Together they had two children who were their pride and joy. Jay enjoyed all things outdoors. He was a member of the St. Bernard Sportsman’s League for several years. When not at work, you would find Jay fishing, at the golf course, cooking a pot of gumbo, or in the woods hunting. Jay will always be admired for his determination, faithfulness, and unwavering love for his family. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial gathering to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Saturday, January 6, 2024 from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM. A Memorial Service honoring Jay will begin at 1:00 PM.
