Ella Mae Caviness

Ella Mae Neyland Caviness passed away at East Jefferson General Hospital in Metairie, LA on Friday, September 25, 2015 at the age of 78. She was the loving and devoted mother to her three surviving children, John F. Caviness Jr., his wife Carol, Deborah C. Barbier, Patricia Collura, and her husband Keith. She cherished and loved her six granddaughters, Laura C. Cocus, Jennifer B. Morales, Leslie C. Cocus, Amanda C. Day, Lynn C.Scariano and Brittany L. Collura. She is also survived by six great grandchildren, with one on the way, numerous nieces and nephews and her brother Richard “Moon” Neyland. She is preceded in death by her parents Richard and Tula Neyland Sr., the father of her children John F. Caviness Sr. and her sister Janice N. Chatlain. Ella was born and raised in New Orleans, LA and made her home in Chalmette, LA prior to Hurricane Katrina. At the time of her death she was a resident of Chateau Living Center in Kenner, LA. Ella will be forever remembered and deeply missed by all who knew her. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private.
