Edith Anepohl Cantrell, age 81, received her wings to be with the Lord and other heavenly hands on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 after a battle with infection. Edie was born in New Orleans, but she was a lifelong resident of St. Bernard Parish. Edie worked for St. Bernard Parish Transportation and enjoyed playing softball. She was the daughter of the late Eddie A. Anepohl and Hazel Duhe Comer. Loving and caring mother of Kim Shreve (Gary Mackles) and her son, Rodney J. Cantrell. Sister of Patty Tufaro (Pete) and Barbara Cosse (Tommy). Proud grandmother of Donald R. Shreve (Krystal), Gabriell Mackles (Josh), Dustin Nunez, Kirsten Cantrell. Great-grandmother of Mackenzie, Dominick, Nevaeh, Josh Jr. and Kaylee. She is also survived and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. She was well loved and will be deeply missed by us all. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Saturday, April 9th from 11:00AM – 1:00PM, followed by a Funeral Mass in Edith’s memory beginning at 1:00PM. She will be laid to rest in a private ceremony in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
