Charles Jesse Phillips passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at the age of 88. He was the beloved husband of 59 years to the late Nola Louise Ancar Phillips. Loving father of Jackie Phillips and Teddy Phillips. Son of the late Charles and Valentine Dinet Phillips. Brother of Wallace Phillips, Antonia Phillips, Anthony Phillips, George Phillips, John Phillips and the late Chester Phillips. He is also survived and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Jesse was born, raised and resided in Plaquemines Parish before settling in Marrero, LA. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and enjoyed a long career as a Longshoreman. Jesse truly enjoyed life through his simple pleasures fishing, trawling, hunting and trapping. Charles intensely loved having coffee among family and friends. However, his passion for coffee paled in comparison to his devotion to his church, the love for his children, his cherished wife and laughing with close friends. He was well loved and affectionately known for his good nature and generous heart. He will be forever remembered as a loving and loyal husband, father, brother and friend, who loved his country and treasured his family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Monday, June 4th from 11:30AM – 1:00PM, followed by a celebration of his life beginning at 1:00PM. He will be laid to eternal rest with his beloved wife in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
