She was preceded in death by her husbands, Rev. James Headley and Aubrey Abbott; two sisters and two brothers. She is survived by her children, Glenda Laney (Van), Rev. Jim Headley (Anita), Christina Russell (Rusty) and Annette Lawrence (Michael); seven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Margie Raybon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Following the death of the love of her life, James, in 1972, she earned her GED and graduated from Shelton State as a LPN. She worked at BCNH during her career. Following retirement and the death of her second husband, Peggy enjoyed traveling and visiting family and friends.
One of her favorite activities was playing dominoes with "The Rowdy Row" ladies at Brent Baptist Church. She was also known for how much she loved her coffee. She enjoyed reading her Bible daily and playing the organ.
The family wishes to thank the staff at BCNH for the love and care that Peggy received as a resident.
A visitation for Peggy will be held Tuesday, May 14, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Rockco Funeral Home, 805 Birmingham Rd, Centreville, Alabama 35042, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. Rev. James Headley, Jr. will officiate. She will be laid to rest in a private service at Highland Memorial Gardens in Bessemer, Alabama.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research or a charity of your choice.
