Gertha was a faithful follower of Christ and a long time member of Randolph Baptist Church, which she served relentlessly for 70 years. She loved her family and church family deeply. She found joy in everyday things and could be found singing while gardening, quilting and serving others. She found her greatest joy in serving others and made it her mission to share the love of Christ in everything she did. She demonstrated patience, gentleness, humbleness and love in all her time on earth.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Orton and Rena Lawrence; husband, Glynn Scott; step-mother, Ida Mae Lawley; son, Roger Scott; brothers, Elton Lawrence, J.B. Lawrence; sisters, Ottie Mearl Stuckenbruck, Peacie Latham, Inell Cochran.
She is survived by her daughter, Sherry Brown (Steve); step-brothers, Fred Lawley, Verbon Lawley, and Dover Lawley; grandchildren, Shawn Scott, Wesley Scott, Christopher Scott (Heather), Hollie Tillery (Bobby), Haley Mathis (Jonathan), Heather Burt (Kolton); great-grandchildren, Addyline Tillery, Anabelle Tillery, Levi Tillery, Kase Mathis, Kai Mathis, Ava Burt, Waylon Burt, Kaul Burt, Banks Burt, Lindsey Webb, Brittany Scott, Brandon Scott, Landon Scott, Dalton Scott, Kaitlyn Hill ; and a host of great-great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held Saturday, November 16, 2024 at Randolph Baptist Church from 10 am - 11 am with a funeral service to follow at 11 am. Burial will be at Randolph Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Kolton Burt, Jonathan Mathis, Bobby Tillery, Waylon Burt, Kase Mathis, and Levi Tillery.
Honorary pallbearers are Wesley Scott, Chris Scott, and Shawn Scott.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Randolph Baptist Church Children or Music Ministry.
