Bro. Kenneth Fuller will officiate the Visitation and the Celebration of Life at Centreville Baptist Church on Friday, December 20th. The Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and the Celebration of Life will begin at 1:00 p.m. A graveside memorial will follow at Pineland Cemetery.
Dot dedicated over 30 years to teaching Home Economics, leaving a lasting impact on countless students. She also served as President of the Retired Teachers Association for many years, demonstrating her commitment to education and fellow educators. A devoted member of Centreville Baptist Church, Dot led the ladies’ adult Sunday school class with grace and enthusiasm, sharing her faith and wisdom with others.
Dot was preceded in death by two of her children, Trey Cottingham and Lindsay Giddiens; her son-in-law, TJ Dorough; her siblings, Shirley Young (Buddy) and Steve Langford (Dianne); as well as her brother-in-law, Herbie Burkes.
She is survived by her loving husband, Bill Calderwood; her daughter, Sonja Dorough; son-in-law, Jason Giddiens; five grandchildren: Summer Wirnsberger (AJ), Joey Parker, Allison Lee (Brandon), Rayden Dorough, and Bodie Giddiens; and a host of great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy.
Dot’s passions included playing bridge, working alongside her husband in their store, and spending time talking and laughing with those she loved. She was also known for her exceptional cooking skills, which brought comfort and delight to family and friends.
Dot’s warmth, dedication to others, and vibrant spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to those she leaves behind.
