Andrew “Andy” Wilson Sheffield, aged 44 years, of Sprott, Alabama, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 18, 2021 in Evansville, Indiana, following a sudden illness while hunting in Illinois.
Andy is survived by his son, Dustyn Dan Sheffield; daughters, Katelyn Alyssa Sheffield and Gretchyn Hartley Sheffield; brother, Robert Sheffield; sisters, Danie Nichols (Bobby) and Ann Davis (Jason); numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, and a host of close friends.
Andy is preceded in death by his parents, William Dan and Shelby Jean Sheffield; his brother, Billy Wayne Cook; his sister, Ramona Jean Cook; and his nephew, Jeffrey Daniel Gibbs.
Andy was born on February 5, 1977, in Selma, Alabama, with his twin sister, Ann. He grew up in Marion, Alabama, before moving to Maplesville, Alabama, where he played football and graduated from Maplesville High School in 1996. Andy married (later divorced) and had three beautiful children. He was a talented man who worked best with his hands in many fields – construction, welding, and heavy equipment operation, to list a few. Andy was an avid hunter, devoted father, and faithful friend. He loved football, the Maplesville Red Devils, the Crimson Tide, hunting, fishing, and anything else that took him outdoors. His favorite pastimes were hunting and spending time with his children. He is remembered as a loving father, a great friend, and the best dancer around. He will be missed by so many.
The family would like to express their immense gratitude to the staff of Deaconess Midtown Hospital - Unit 4800 (Julie) and the staff of Indiana Donor Network - Evansville office (Maddy) for their amazing comfort, support, and attention to the family and their care of Andy. The family would also like to thank the staff of Dignity Memorial’s Evansville, Indiana, Centreville, Alabama, and Mobile, Alabama, locations for going above and beyond to help with Andy’s final arrangements.
Family and friends will join together in memory of Andrew Sheffield on Monday, November 29, 2021, at Ivey’s Chapel Church in Sprott, Alabama. Visitation will be held 10:00-11:30 a.m. and the service will begin at 11:30 a.m. Pastor and long-time friend of Andy’s, Doug Vance, will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the National Wild Turkey Federation in memory of Andrew Sheffield. However, flowers may be sent to Rockco’s Funeral Home in Centreville, Alabama.
