Best Coach and Math Teacher I ever had...

Coach  Rasmussen was my first algebra teacher. Already a “A” student, confidence in the subject was high. Except after 3-4 weeks I was lost. He took some extra time and explained the X and the Y in the brackets were like pigs and chickens on the farm. X was pigs and Y was chickens so maybe you had 3 of x and 3 of y. Somehow that clicked and I nailed algebra and the rest of the math levels after. I’ve always remembered him for that. And missed him terribly when he went to PeEll.  My condolences and prayers.

Jack and his friend John Adkins and I ‘hung out’ some, shared classes and traveled some back in our WSU days.   He was pleased with his nickname…’Coach’.  As a college student back in the relatively turbulent ‘60’s’, Jack was a not only a leader but a moral inspiration.  I have nothing but fond memories of Jack and lament that we lost touch over the years.  I’m confident his qualities live on through his family.  

I was honored to know Jack and Jan as I was their realtor for many years. He was always so kind and soft spoken.  He was a man of honor and was a true Christian as I could see how he treated me and others. I could also see the love he had for his beautiful  wife Jan and his family. So grateful I was able to know him. Rest in peace Jack.

Jack was a good and decent person.   I had the opportunity to teach in the same high school with him for several years prior to his retirement.    Always a good influence on kids and a highly effective Math Teacher.     Surely made a positive impact on more students than we can possibly know.   I wish his family the best and that they will know peace during this time.
