Dana was born to Donald E. Gates and Myrtle G. Pickens on August 28, 1959 in Chehalis, WA. She graduated from Napavine School District in 1977. Dana married the love of her life, Dane Jensen, on July 7, 2020.
Dana was an avid “rock hound.” She and her best friend of 48 years, Mary Waltrip, would take numerous journeys off the beaten path looking for unique rocks and minerals to add to their collections. Nothing made Dana happier than going for a drive, especially in Alaska or Washington. She was known for her wicked sense of humor, she was always the first with a joke. She loved writing letters and cards to her family and friends. Often times she found it quite amusing to glitter bomb the recipients. Dana was most proud of her accomplishments and graduation from the Lewis Count Drug Court. She will be remembered for her willingness to mentor and provide additional support-service to others. She was consistently volunteering for any activity that was available.
Dana was preceded in death by her father Don, her mother Myrtle, her husband Dane, her brother Don Jr, and her step-father Ray Pickens.
She is survived by her sisters, Diana (Vic) Leneker, Cheryle (Don) Sholey, and Elizabeth Behrens. Also mourning her loss are her numerous nieces, nephews, and her beloved god-daughter Krissy Reynolds Robertson.
The family would like to thank the staff at Olympics West for the excellent care they provided to Dana. There will be a graveside service at Claquato Cemetery, 142 Stearns Rd, Chehalis, WA 98532, on August 28, at 1pm.
