Anne Marie Talley of Napavine, 80, passed away May 10, 2018, at her home, in Napavine, Wash., while surrounded by family. She was born to Thomas and Mary McCaffrey in Albuquerque, N.M., Feb. 7, 1938.
Anne graduated in 1955 from St. Mary’s Catholic High School in Albuquerque. She later moved to southern California. It was then that she met the love of her life, Glenn Arthur Talley, whom she married Feb. 6, 1965. The next few years, Anne and Glenn lived in Santa Monica, Calif., where each of their three children were born, Glenn Jr, Thomas and Anne Marie. In 1971, the family moved to San Manuel, Ariz., where Glenn worked as a miner and Anne worked as a nurse’s aide in the local hospital. After Glenn was injured in a mining accident, they moved to Chehalis, Wash.
For the better part of the next three decades, 1978 to 2007, Anne worked as a nurse’s aide at St. Helen’s Hospital in Chehalis, and later, Providence Hospital in Centralia. Anne was a devout Catholic and was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Religion and family were the focus of Anne’s life, and she struggled mightily to raise her three children. She was instrumental in her children’s successes. Both of her sons earned their Eagle Scout award in the Boy Scouts, and all three of her children graduated college, Glenn from Centralia Community College, Thomas from Virginia Military Institute and Anne from Gonzaga University.
In later years, Anne found great joy in watching her children set out on their own, find the right partners, get married and have children of their own. Three of her grandchildren have also married. Anne also enjoyed several trips to Europe, traveling with her sister, Mary Grace.
Anne was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Arthur Talley, who passed away Nov. 28, 2010; parents; and brothers Tom, Pat, and James.
Anne is survived by her children, Glenn Arthur (Marissa) of Napavine, Thomas Francis (Stephanie) of San Antonio, Texas, and Anne Marie (Gary) Kissel of Vancouver, Wash.; grandchildren, Glenn Arthur Jr. (Miranda) of Monterrey, Calif., Sean Michael Matiga (Amanda) of Canada, Katie (Tylar) Whitehead of Winlock, Wash., Madeleine Frances and Ainsley Grace Talley of San Antonio, and Raphael Lee and Mariah Anne Kissel of Vancouver; sisters, Mary Grace and Marian; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial mass will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 17, 2018, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Chehalis. A reception is to follow in the St. Joseph’s school hall.
