Ann Helen Stamper

Ann Workman Stamper, 95, passed away with family at her side on August 1, 2011 after a courageous battle with kidney disease. Ann arrived May 31, 1916 in Doty, WA to Oliver and Elizabeth ( Damron) Workman. The family moved to West Virginia for a time and then back to Green Mountain/Riffe area when Ann was nine. She worked as a housekeeper/nanny/waitress in her early years. Ann married Thomas Stamper on September 26, 1940. They lived in Mineral, Morton, Swiss Home, OR, Riffe, Mossyrock, Chehalis and Centralia over the years. Ann was foremost a mother, a grandma and homemaker. She loved all her family and by all that knew her. She was the family historian and remembered family and events of the past in great detail.

The family is very grateful to Ann’s grand-daughter Delania Workman for the loving care provided her in the last year and to the hospice nursing staff whose care and support was so valuable.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents, “Peanuts & Lizzie”, her husband of 49 years Thomas Stamper (1990), son James Stamper (2011),grandson-in-law Randy Workman (2010), sisters: Mabel Godfrey, Carrie Workman, Flossy Workman, Opal Workman and brothers: Garley, Ribern, Reginald, Luther and Norman Workman. She is survived by daughter Judy (Jan) Gano, Yakima, daughter-in-law Erma Stamper, sister Irene (Harrison) Lane, and brothers Cecil (Eva) Workman and Silas Workman. She leaves behind six grandchildren; Delania Workman, Diahann Curtis, Jim Lee Stamper, Dennis Stamper, Jerry Stamper & Kyle Gano, six great grandchildren and one great great grandchildren.
