Rita Joy Soileau

Rita Joy Fontenot Soileau, native of Ville Platte, LA and resident of Greenwell Springs, LA, passed away on January 14, 2023 at the age of 84. She is survived by her three daughters, Angela Chauvin, Shellie Soileau, and Lynn Soileau; three grandchildren, Misty Walton, Jacob Chauvin, and Summer Godsil-Wines; five great-grandchildren, Kelsie Johnson, Faith Walton, Luke Walton, Remy Godsil-Wines, and Jude Godsil-Wines; great-great grandchild, Bowen Johnson; and numerous close friends. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, John Ray Soileau; and her parents, Remie Elton and Elsie Reed Fontenot.

Rita Joy worked for Chevrolet of Ville Platte for over 35 years, loved genealogy and was a diehard LSU and Saints Football fan. She helped start the girls’ softball league in Ville Platte and enjoyed being active in her community. Rita Joy will be remembered for her kind spirt, loving heart, and her deep love and devotion for her family, friends, and being a “second momma” to her daughter’s friends. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her. A memorial service will be held at a later date for family and friends.
