Melissa Leteff Prisk

Born on September 16, 1957, Melissa was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many.

Melissa is survived by her two sons, Jeff Prisk (Heather Prisk) and Phillip Prisk (Heather Prisk) and brother, Andrew Lance Leteff. She was the proud grandmother of four beautiful granddaughters, Makenzie, Ryley, Paisley, and Piper, who were the light of her life. She was the best Grans they could have asked for.

Melissa dedicated over 20 years of her career to working at the BREC Zoo, where her passion for animals and nature shone brightly. She thrived when nurturing the animals under her care at the Baton Rouge Zoo and loved each like her own. She had a special love for orchids and spent countless hours nurturing these delicate flowers. She enjoyed going to the LSU plant sale with her friends to shop for new orchids yearly. LSU football had a special place in her heart as well as the Saints, but her absolute favorite was time with her granddaughters or time nurturing her plants in her greenhouse.

Her kindness, warmth, and love for both her family and the natural world will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A celebration of Melissa’s life will be held at Central Funeral Home on Thursday, August 15 from 4pm to 8pm. Melissa never liked to dress up and loved being comfy, so keep it casual. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you share a special memory you have with her on a card at her memorial or her site.
