Bruce James Mayeaux, a resident of Central, Louisiana, passed away on December 15th, 2020 at the Pearl at Jamestown after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease at the age of 71. He was born in Plaucheville, Louisiana to Stanley Mayeux and Anola Kimball. He was a member of the U. S. Air Force from 1969 – 1973. He was a man who was dedicated to 26 years of engineer work for a Baton Rouge company. He also owned and operated Mayeaux Inspection Services throughout various cities in Louisiana. He was a 3rd degree Knights of Columbus and a member of Veterans Helping Veterans of Central. He loved to travel which he always said, “I want to see everything there is to see”. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Joyce Glover Mayeaux; two children, Chris and Robert Mayeaux; three grandchildren, Jeffery, Dakota, and Robbie Mayeaux. He is also survived by three sisters, Judy (Ronnie) Rachal, Carol Bordelon, and Marilyn Mayeux Clemens; one step daughter, Jorie (Ron) Landry; and three step grandchildren, Ryan Williams, Shane (Catlin) Squires, and Allie (Dustin) Bordelon. He was preceded in death by his son, Jamie Mayeaux; his brother, Everett Stanley Mayeux and his stepson, Warren Squires. Special thanks to the nurses and staff of the Pearl at Jamestown and to the hospice group “In His Care” for their loving and excellent care. Visitation will be on Friday, December 18, 2020 from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Central Funeral Home, 9995 Hooper Rd, Central, LA 70818 with a mass following at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 14040 Greenwell Springs Rd, Greenwell Springs, LA 70739 at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at 2:00 PM in Louisiana National Cemetery, 303 West Mt. Pleasant Zachary Rd, Zachary, LA 70791. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Services of the Capital area (alzbr.org) to help fund research.
