Anna Lucille Gorden (Simmons), aged 71, was called home to the Lord on October 9, in Clinton, Louisiana. Born on November 29, 1952 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Anna was a humble servant of God, who devoted her earthly journey to nurturing the bodies and spirits of those around her through her work in Nutritional Services at Lane Memorial Healthcare System.
A beacon of God's love, Anna's heart overflowed with compassion, and she walked in the footsteps of Christ, seeing His light in everyone she met. An ardent disciple of the Word, she found solace and strength in the sacred texts and was a pillar of the First Baptist Church of Slaughter, where she shared her faith and love unreservedly.
She is now joyously reunited in Heaven with her parents, James Norman Simmons Sr. (Jim) and Lucille Duck Simmons, who preceded her in death. Left to cherish her memory and continue her legacy of humility and unconditional love are her life companion, Emmett Pace; her daughter, Shanna Rainwater and her husband, Allen; her sons, Jamie Gorden and his wife, Heather, and Daniel Simmons; her brother, James Simmons Jr. (Jimmy) and his wife, Judy; her sister, Patricia Netterville and her husband, Jeff; her beloved grandchildren, Taylor Rainwater, Mikayla Rainwater, Eli Gorden and Loki Gorden; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who were touched by her gracious spirit.
On October 15, 2024, a gathering to honor Anna's life and her unwavering commitment to the Creator's work will be held at First Baptist Church in Slaughter from 9AM to 10AM for a private family viewing and 10AM to 12PM for public visitation. A service to celebrate her ascension into eternal peace will commence at 12PM, officiated by Rev. Basil Wicker. Following the service, Anna will be laid to rest at Redwood Baptist Church Cemetery, where she will sleep in the arms of the Almighty. Central Funeral Home in Central, Louisiana is providing guidance and support to the family during this sacred time.
Pallbearers will be Jamie Gorden, Jeff Netterville, Allen Rainwater, Wesley Simmons, and Chris Kaiser. Honorary pallbearers are Taylor Rainwater, Andrew Netterville and Matthew Netterville.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Anna's blessed memory to Susan G. Komen, March of Dimes, or Shriners Children's Hospital. Through these acts of charity, Anna's spirit of generosity will continue. May her soul, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
