James "Jim" Hatch Fifield, 63, passed away peacefully September 5, 2014 surrounded by his family. James was born on April 29, 1951 in New Haven, CT to Hugh and Cynthia Fifield. He grew up in Branford, CT in the Pine Orchard neighborhood. He attended Tabor Academy in Marion, MA and received a BA in Economics from Roanoke College in Roanoke, VA, where he was also captain of the Men's Varsity soccer team and drummer in a band. He worked in finance and with the Department of Agriculture in Washington, DC, as well as dabbled in local sports reporting and little league coaching. He loved music, good food, camping trips with his family in Maine, and the New York Yankees. In addition to being a loving husband and devoted father and brother, he will be missed for his wonderful humor, wit, attention to detail, and candor. James is survived by his spouse Gina, to whom he was married for 32 years, his two children, Lauren and Edward ("Ted") Fifield, his sister Frances Fifield of New York, NY, and eight nieces and nephews. In passing, James joins his grandparents, mother and father, and beloved older sister, Cynthia ("Cindy") Fifield. His family expresses deep gratitude to the Staff on Milne 2 at Gaylord Hospital for their loving care, support, and appreciation of James.
