Dorothy Jane Heughins, age 76, of Deep River passed away on Monday morning, March 7, 2016 at Hartford Hospital. Dorothy was the beloved wife of William T. Heughins, Sr. She was born in Middletown on September 4, 1939 the daughter of Milton LeRoy and Clara Louise (Gilbert) Spencer. A resident of Deep River since 1966, she and William were married there on July 30, 1966. Dorothy had worked for over 32 years at the Lee Company prior to her retirement. She was a very active member of the United Church of Chester for over 30 years, and a member of the Auxiliary of the American Legion, Ibell Jacobson Smith Post # 61 in Deep River. Dot loved to camp with her friends whenever possible and enjoyed many weekends camping in New Hampshire. She was an avid reader and puzzle maker, a big fan of NFL football and will especially be remembered and greatly missed as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Besides her husband Bill she leaves her daughter, Mary Guerrera and her husband James of Ivoryton, her son, Craig Heughins and his wife Anita of Clinton, her step-daughter, Cyndi Floridia and her husband Salvatore of Marlborough, her step-son, William Heughins, Jr. and his wife Eileen of Leesburg, Florida, her beloved seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and her siblings, Myron Spencer, Amy Curtis, Rose Lund, Roberta Ziemiensky, Sarah Mason, and Marion Sumner. She was predeceased by her brothers, Donald and Robert Spencer. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 11, 2016 from 5:00PM to 7:00PM at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street in Centerbrook. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 10:00AM at The United Church of Chester, 29 West Main Street in Chester.
