Carl Echtman of Deep River, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, (June 30, 2024) at Hartford Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Kathleen Echtman (Benedetto) along with his three daughters, Pamela Delfino (Richard), Karen Wolfgram (Keith) and Jacqueline O’Brien (Patrick) and his nephew, that was like a son to him, Joseph Benedetto (Shannon). He leaves behind several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Carl was born on July 23rd, 1945 in Middletown, CT. He grew up in Ivoryton, CT with his two brothers, William and Joseph Echtman. He graduated from Valley Regional High School, owned and managed the Ivoryton Service Station and then joined the United States Marine Corps. After his military service, he continued his education in Boston, where he became a Certified HVAC Technician. Most of Carl’s career was spent working for Saybrook Oil Company. He spent 20 years as President of the SX Sportsman’s Club and was an avid fisherman. He was a staple to the Middlesex community and will be most remembered for his warm personality. He will be greatly missed. Visiting hours will be on Saturday, July 6th from 10-12 p.m. at Robinson Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main St., Centerbrook. Funeral.
