William Gerald “Bill” Seefeldt was born in Bloomington, Illinois on July 28, 1940. He passed away at 81 years old at Mill Vista Lodge at Wind Crest Senior Living Community in Highlands Ranch, Colorado.
Bill had a fun childhood playing with his neighborhood friends. When chasing a ball, he ran into the street and was hit by a car at the age of six and fell out of a tree and broke his arm at the age of seven. He graduated from Woodruff High School in Peoria, Illinois in 1958. His friend Terry Hopkins became part of the Seefeldt family around that time and their friendship endured until Bill’s final days. Bill went into the United States Army Reserves from 1961-1966. His 301st Signal Company was called up to active duty during the 1961-1962 Berlin Crisis. He pursued and completed the Reserve Component Recruiting Course in 1963 and achieved the rank of Sergeant. He received an honorable discharge in 1966.
In 1963, he married the love of his life, Janet Ray Guard. They were introduced by their friends Becky and Jerry Haven. Bill and Jan went on to have two children. In the fall of 1973, the family moved from Peoria, Illinois to Littleton, Colorado. Bill always said that move changed his life and career trajectory. While living in Illinois, Bill worked for Caterpillar Tractor Company. HIs next job at Estimatic brought him and his young family west to Colorado. He then worked for Natkin and Company, Fischbach & Moore, Martin Marietta, and J.D. Edwards.
In his fifties, Bill felt the calling for a new career that didn’t involve Data Systems. He went on to become a Realtor, working for Moore & Company, Frontier Better Homes & Gardens, Keller Williams, and RE/MAX Classic in Colorado. When Bill and Jan moved to Arizona, he received his Arizona Real Estate license and worked at RE/MAX Elite. Bill especially enjoyed his career as a Realtor as it fit his fun, outgoing, social personality. In 2002, Bill and his daughter Holly Walker teamed up and enjoyed years of selling Real Estate together.
Bill truly took joy in his volunteer service positions in the Littleton community. He sat on various boards through the years including Mile High United Way Campaign Cabinet, Littleton Town Hall Arts Center, Littleton Business Association, Arapahoe Community College Foundation Board, Littleton City Council Business/Industry Affairs Committee, Littleton Clock Tower Restoration, and Littleton Millennium Celebrations. Bill also was the Littleton Western Welcome Week Events Chair, Board President and even served as Mr. Welcome Week in 1986. In his later life, Bill belonged to the Rotary Club of Littleton, CO and the Rotary Club of Sun Lakes, AZ, which honored Bill with the Paul Harris Fellow award from the Rotary Leadership Institute. He especially enjoyed the company of his fellow Littleton Squares.
Bill is preceded in death by his father, Ferdinand Wilhelm “Slim” Seefeldt (1978), his mother, Geraldine Augusta “Gerry” Seefeldt (1988), his sister, Norma Jean Seefeldt (2013), and his beloved wife, Janet Ray (Guard) Seefeldt (2016).
Bill is survived by his son, William Douglas “Doug” Seefeldt, (Tara Wood Seefeldt) of Clemson, South Carolina, his daughter, Holly (Seefeldt) Walker (Kenneth Walker) of Littleton, Colorado, and his grandchildren, Andrew Douglas Walker, Brandon Richard Walker, Eleanor Augusta “August” Seefeldt, Margaret Ray “Meg” Seefeldt.
