Stephen (Steve) John Peterson, age 65, of Broomfield, Colorado passed away June 7, 2022. He is survived by his best friend and wife, Barb and two loving daughters, Stephanie, and Lindsey as well as by his nephew, Josh Craig, whom he considered a son.
Stephen John Peterson was born on January 19, 1957, at Rose Hospital in Denver, Colorado to Kerwin (Corky) and Barbara Peterson. Stephen grew up in Northglenn, Colorado with his two brothers: Mike Peterson (Maureen)and Kenny Peterson (Mindy). He graduated from Northglenn High School in 1975. After high school he joined the United States Army from 1975 where he served as an MP until his honorable discharge in 1978.
Steve approached life with the “Let’s do what’s right” mindset and his family was his most valued joy and commitment. Steve married Barb Craig on October 10, 1987, in Littleton, Colorado and they had two beautiful daughters together, Stephanie and Lindsey.
He enjoyed life to its fullest and was always happiest when he was with his family. Whether it was camping, fishing, riding his beloved Harley with Barb and his friends, or simply playing games or watching a good movie at home. He filled his bucket list with things to do with family including a special camping trip with his nephew Josh (aka ‘itty bitty buck”), family trip to Disney World with brother Kenny and family, Caribbean Cruises, many trips to Kansas to just hang with his cousin, Steve Peterson (Cuz, and “brother”) and Jan, travelling to Europe/Italy with Barb and his Bronco buddy sister in law, Laurie Craig. He loved history, valued family, loved his dogs, would do anything for his friends, loved fiercely, and made everyone who knew or met him feel valued and respected.\
Steve took pride and exhibited his integrity in every aspect of his life. Steve had a ‘natural talent’ for carpentry at a young age and started learning the construction trade at the age of 12 as he worked side by side with his father. Together they would work primarily in the home building and remodeling industry as Colorado grew during the 60’s and 70s. Stephen taught his children, and many others, the “proper” way to build or fix most anything. His experience in the construction industry included Project Management, Land Development, Purchasing, Contractor negotiation, Procurement of trades and suppliers, managing direct and indirect personnel, managing cost and budgets for all aspects of the building cycle. He worked for various home builders: Pulte Homes (22 years, Colorado, Utah, Arizona), Alliance Residential (AZ), Home Depot Installation (AZ), Century Communities (CO) and Burke Builders (CO). For several years he owned and operated his own general contracting business, Red Apple Construction whose company’s core value was “DID … Done is Done”.
Stephen is preceded in death by his parents: Barbara Peterson, and Corky Peterson, his grandparents: Helen and Louis Parigi, Victor Paul and Eloise Peterson, Several Uncles & Aunts, Nephew: Dusty Peterson.
Stephen is survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. All of whom miss him dearly and are thankful he is at peace and healthy with God.
