Robert “Bob” Alan Combs, born June 22, 1955 to James and RoseMarie Combs, died July 28th, 2012 after a long battle with melanoma. He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Mary Ruth; daughters Angela (Mary) and Jennifer (Ever); sons Duane and Charles (Niki); grandsons Triston, Blake, and Brian; brothers Clyde (Lana) and Jerry (Michelle); sisters Diana and Debbie (Bobby); many nephews and cousins and extended family.
Bob worked 25 years for Denver Public Schools in the Food Service division where he drove a truck and delivered food to all the school cafeterias. He was born and lived in Denver his entire life and attended East High School.
He met his wife, Ruth, in 1975 and they were married June 21, 1975. Together they raised her youngest son, Charles and adopted their daughters Angela, in 1985, and Jennifer, in 1990.
An active man, Bob loved working outside on his lawn and yard; priding himself on the landscaping and plush grass. He was a man who preferred to get his hands dirty. He also had a softer side, one that could be witnessed in his love for animals and love for his family. There was never an event that he missed or an occasion forgotten. He was known for “the little things”, such as small cakes with a candle in it to celebrate a birthday or candy necklaces hidden in pockets when he came home from work. He was overjoyed with the opportunity to walk both daughters down the aisle at their weddings and be present for the birth of his grandson, Triston.
Bob will be missed by all who knew him, not only his family whom he loved unconditionally, but by friends, neighbors, and coworkers. He was a man who would do anything for someone he cared about and will forever be remembered as a kind, gentle and loving husband, daddy, grampy, brother, and friend.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking donations be made in his memory to the Lutheran Hospice at Collier Center, 3210 Lutheran Parkway, Wheat Ridge CO 80033, 303.425.8000.
