Mary Kathryn was born on December 11, 1945 to Thomas R. and Loretta A. Madera. She married Charles H. Johnson, a U.S. Marine who was killed in action in 1969. At the age of just 23, she was left a widow and single mother of two small children. Despite these challenges, Mary Kathryn put herself through nursing school and was very proud of her career as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
A devout Catholic, Mary Kathryn had a special devotion to Jesus Christ and to the Blessed Virgin Mary. In the 1990s, she became disabled due to illness. Though she suffered with chronic pain and illness for the remainder of her life, Mary Kathryn believed that her pain was a gift from God that she was able to offer up for others.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Terri Johnson; her daughter and son-in-law, Sherry Johnson and Keith Lazarus; and by her grandchildren, Todd and Christa.
She was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
