Although her health had been failing for years, her joy for life and indomitable spirit persevered.
She was born in Creston ,Iowa, the youngest of three children in her family. She is pre-deceased by her parents, and her brother and sister. Her family had very humble beginnings, during the years when there wasn’t running water or indoor plumbing. They lived through the years of the Depression. She graduated high school in 1942. Although she never attended college, that never held her back from pursuing her goals, and she possessed an unconventional wisdom. She went to work at Montgomery Ward for a year before moving to Denver, where she went to work at Blue Cross Blue Shield. She continued working for them after moving to Wyoming. She then returned to Denver, where she met her future husband. She was married in 1950. She had two children, a son and daughter. She worked as the accountant for her husband’s business for a long time. Years later she divorced. She continued to work at various jobs, including executive secretary and office manager. At times, she worked two jobs to provide for her family.
She continued to enjoy life and had many interests, which included mah-jong, golf, traveling and reading. She was active in her church, and was a member of PEO (a philanthropic educational organization). She was a loving mother, a loyal friend, and a giving, compassionate person. She will be missed beyond measure, and always loved. Her spirit will live on in memories.
She is survived by her daughter, Robin, and son-in-law, Don.
We invite you to attend the memorial service for her on Feb. 16th at 10AM at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church located at 6322 S. Lakeview St. in Littleton, Colorado.
