Margie Juanita “Nita” Garrett, 78 years of age, born March 24, 1939 in Downing, MO, entered into rest, January 29, 2018 at Kindred Hospital in Denver, CO. Nita was raised in Downing, MO and at the age of 11, moved to Burlington, IA with her parents and sister. In 1961 Nita moved to Broken Bow, NE, where she lived with her sister, Wanda, niece Dianna and father, Orben. She made many lifelong friends there and worked at Becton Dickinson Vacutainer Systems manufacturing facility for 32 years, attaining the position of Quality Control Inspector. After retirement, Nita moved with her family to Aurora, CO to stay close to her much loved sister and niece. Throughout her life she enjoyed traveling and country music and combined those two interests by taking several trips with family to Branson, MO and Nashville, TN. Nita traveled frequently, going on several cruises, taking a trip to Hawaii and many road trips to visit family and friends in Missouri, Texas, Nebraska and Iowa. She will be remembered as a great reader and storyteller, an empathetic listener, with a vivacious spirit and a great sense of humor. She loved to play cards, visit with friends and collect pigs. Nita was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend and dedicated to being a great supporter to her family and friends. She had a strong will and a generous heart and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Nita was preceded in death by her parents, William “Orben” and Sylvia (Anders) Garrett; her sister and brother-in-law, Wanda DeBord and Don DeBord, brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Shirley Garrett, brother and sister-in-law Forrest “Pete” and Mary Faye Garrett and niece Cheryl Garrett. She is survived by her niece and nephew Dianna and Mark Walter, of the home, her niece Sidonie Garrett, nephew and niece, Larry Garrett and Denise Fields, several cousins and many loving friends.
Visitation will be Monday, February 5 at the Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary & Cemetery from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm located at 6601 South Colorado Blvd., Centennial, CO. Funeral services will be held immediately after at 1:00 pm. Interment at Chapel Hill Cemetery, Centennial, CO will be at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The American Diabetes Association.
