Judith Weil Hall died peacefully on the evening of January 18, 2022 in Lakewood, Colorado surrounded by her immediate family. She has lived in Lakewood for the past 47 years, where she served her community and raised her family.
Judy was a devoted wife and mother to her six children, fifteen grandchildren, and one great-grandson. She was passionate about spending time with family, never wanting to miss a single one of their activities and with 15 grandkids, that was a lot! She selflessly prioritized other’s needs above her own and always made herself available. Judy was always present to those around her, seizing every moment she was given to impact others. The culinary skills she acquired at Purdue while cooking for their football team carried over into her homemaking years as large quantities of food were always available and often pushed onto visitors and family members. She promoted healthy eating long before it was popular. Judy was very active and lived a life much younger than her years, participating in runs, walks and hikes regardless of the difficulty. She loved a good freebee and could find value in objects and papers that others found useless, while simultaneously blessing people with her overflowing generosity. Judy’s positive and energetic personality radiated Godly joy that could lure any stranger into conversations that would occasionally develop into lasting friendships. She loved unconditionally and wholeheartedly and had a huge Jesus-like heart for the hurting, suffering, and disabled, spending countless hours visiting, talking, helping, and praying for them. As a faithful follower of Jesus, some of Judy’s last words spoken were in a prophetic prayer earlier that morning concluding her “Bible in the Halls” family’s bible study. In true Judy fashion, she left us her final gift.
Judy was born in Buffalo, NY in 1935 and later spent her adolescent years in Erie, PA and Muncie, IN. She graduated from Burris High school in 1953 and later from Ball State University with a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1957. She met her future husband in the cafeteria of Cary Hall at Purdue University in Lafeyette, IN that same year where she worked as a catering manager. Handsome Robert Hall caught her eye despite the fact that his dorm was filled with football players. She was drawn to Bob for giving her straight answers when she asked questions, unlike her sweet father who loved to tease her. Judy married the love of her life on July 8, 1961 in Muncie, IN and travelled to Denmark, Sweden and Norway on their honeymoon, spending a week in each country, driving a VW rental car. They had their first two children by 1964 and moved to Tilburg, Holland. The young family returned to Muncie, where she had three more children. They moved to Milwaukee, WI; Williamsburg, VA; Findlay, OH; and finally settled in Lakewood, CO, where their last daughter was born. Judy’s favorite role was raising her kids. She was also a substitute teacher at the local public schools and a Stephen’s minister for many years. Judy was a devout republican often volunteering at both local and out of state GOP offices. A force of nature about her beliefs, Judy would never take a back seat and often led efforts for change.
Judy is survived by her husband of 60 years, Robert G. Hall; her son Daniel (Jeannine) Hall from Arvada, CO; her daughters, Deb (Daryl) Longwell from Golden, CO, Julie (Tom) McDaniel from Roseville, MN, Holly (Mark) Steller from Centennial, CO, Meg (Ben) Jamtgaard from Littleton, CO, Kadie (Ed Kerr) Hall from Windsor, CO; and her 15 wonderful grandchildren, Nick (Kelly) Longwell, Alison Longwell, Matthew and Alex McDaniel, Hannah, Jena, Abigail, Aidan and Kiefer Steller, Haley, Lukas and Jada Jamtgaard, Jacob, Nathan and Robel Hall; and her one great grandson, Harrison Longwell. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by mother Pauline Frederick and father Howard Weil, sister Barbara Hoffman, and brother Richard Weil.
