Jim as his friends and family called him was born in a small town known as Atlantic, Iowa in 1947. He as was the son of Wilma Brown and Cleo Brown. He graduated from Englewood High School and attended Arizona State University and majored in Construction Management. While attending Arizona State University he was a starting left-handed pitcher for the Arizona Sun Devils. He was drafted twice for the National Baseball League to the Mets and Orioles due to his amazing ability.
Immediately following college, he joined the military. He served in the Armed Forces from 1969-1972. He began his service at Fort Bliss, in El Paso, Texas. He was an instructor for the Chaparral Surface to Air Missile System. In 1970, while stationed in Fort Bliss, Texas; he married Mary L Glass, from Hastings, NE. He later was deployed overseas and served in Korea for one year. He was then sent home and honorably discharged in 1972.
He quickly relocated to his childhood home of Littleton, CO. Jim immediately started a family with the birth of his first son in 1973, and managed to have three beautiful children of whom adored him. He began his career in construction with his father, Cleo Brown. He later started his own construction business and retired as a Super Intendent of Construction. He was a truly talented craftsmen and gifted in designing and constructing projects ranging from housing developments to shopping centers.
Jim loved to travel with his family and close friends. He enjoyed spending time with his wife at hockey and baseball games. He strived to provide an amazing life for his children and grandchildren. He always put his family first and himself second. He was loved by many people and brought so much happiness and laughter to all. His spontaneous sense of humor always managed to light up a room.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary L Brown. His three children, Mike Brown, Stephanie Brown, and Carrie Fontaine. Along with his two grandchildren, Sicily Fontaine and Cooper Fontaine. And his two sisters, Pat Wright and Linda Hostelley.
He was such a good soul and will enjoy the rest of his life in paradise with the Lord. He will be dearly missed, always loved, and forever in our hearts. His earthly presence is greatly missed, but “in His presence is fullness of joy” and that knowledge will comfort all who love him until they are reunited one day in heaven.
The visitation is Wednesday, 4-7pm at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary. Funeral Services will be held Thursday at 10:30 am at Spirit of Hope United Methodist Church.
