Homer B. Brown was born to Homer Buford Brown and Lola Eva Harris on December 20, 1921 at Blue, OK. He went to his heavenly home on March 13, 2016. He is survived by wife, Jane. Also surviving are two sisters Georgina Wanda (Brown) Johnson, Ellen Faye (Brown) Brewer, 2 brothers Granville Alvin Brown and Jerry Lee Brown as well as many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
He attended schools in Oklahoma, graduating from the University of Oklahoma with a BS degree in Petroleum Engineering. He was also a registered Professional Engineer. He married his first wife, Myra Lael Belcher in 1943. She died in 1981 from cancer. Homer married Jane Crouse in 1984. Homer was a member of Cornerstone Church in Lone Tree, CO.
Homer was commissioned as a 2nd LT, Field Artillery in May, 1942. When called to active duty in World War ll on May 28, 1943 he was assigned to a new unit which was a 155 mm Howitzer Battalion as assistant S-2 (Intelligence) Bn Liaison Officer. He also served as Battery Commander and had other assignments. The unit was shipped to England, and then moved to France, Luxembourg, Belgium, Holland and Germany. Homer retired as a Major, Field Artillery, US Army Reserve after the war in 1946.
Homer spent 40 years in the oil business retiring in 1987 as President of R.L. Manning Company. During his career, he started three industry sales and service companies and also consulted on drilling operations internationally in Canada, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.
Visitation will be at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6601 South Colorado Blvd. Centennial, CO 80121 on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Interment will be at Fort Logan at 12:30 p.m. on March 17, 2016. A memorial service will be at Cornerstone Church, 9941 Lone Tree Pkwy. Lone Tree, CO 80124 at 2:30 p.m. on March 17, 2016.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cornerstone Church.
