Donald R Engle was born May 1st, 1926 in Warsaw, Indiana to Mabel and Jack Engle. Don graduated from Warsaw High School.
Don served during WWII, on the SS James Moore: Yeoman, Third Class as a gunner. He shared many a story of life on the ship. He was proud of his service in the Navy and to his country.
When he completed his service, he returned to Warsaw, Indiana to marry the love of his life and high school sweetheart - Sonya McKown. Don and Sonya were married for 74 years and welcomed 4 loving children into the world.
Don worked for General Motors for many years until his retirement in 1985. Don provided a wonderful life for his wife and children. Don would often play ball, attend school functions, enjoyed bowling and golf. He was always available and happy to give advice to his children and grandchildren. He always made time for the family.
Don instilled a genuine love for his country into all his children and grandchildren. Don was a man of integrity, honesty and will be truly missed by his family and friends.
Don is preceded by his wife Sonya and his daughter Melody "Mimi".
Don is survived by his children: Chris, Ann and Rory. His grandchildren: Tanner, Molly, Carl, and Genell.
His great grandchildren: Aiden, Charlotte, Cadence, Clover, Lathem, Easton and McKenna.
Don passed on March 27th, 2022 at the age of 95. We love you and miss your smile and jokes. Thank you for all you did for your family and your country.
