Betty 1924-2022, 98 yrs. old, Born June 25, 1924, to John and Eleanor Southwell, near Joes, Colorado. Older brothers Perry and John and younger sisters Lorna, Arlene and Irene. She was a very caring and loving person. A great wife to Don, a mother, a Grandma and a Great Grandma and had all the love for her family and friends. She would help anyone that needed it. She was a creative person, loved the outdoors, adaptive to most all situations, and a hard worker for everyone. She had a good long life. She will be dearly missed by all and is now in better hands.
They left the farm when Betty was 9 yrs. old and settled in Yuma Colorado. There she attended High School thru 11th Grade. Joined the Methodist Church and attended bible school. The family moved to Denver in 1941. She attended senior year and graduated from East High School. Joined Warren Methodist church. The Rabi lived across the street. He gave the sermon once a year. Then we worshiped in his church with our minister giving the sermon. Her minister enjoyed youth and let them in the band. The minister formed the young adult group from 18 year old and up for both married and single young adults. We had Sunday evening meeting, other activities during the week, and this is where she met Donald.
They married in 1950 and lived in Durango, Colo. She learned what camping was being married to Donald and loved the outdoors. Started camping when Tom was 3, Charles was 2 and Carl 6 mo. old.
Next they moved to Englewood, Colorado. They joined the Englewood Methodist Church. Betty volunteered time as a Sunday school teacher, Women United, Boy Scouts, Maddox School Library, Veterans Hospital, PTA, and Malley Center.
Her family, church and friends were her life and thanks all of them for what they did. She has six grandchildren Crystal, Carl, Jodi, Jeffery, John, Jason and four great grandchildren Angel, Emily, Sabrina and Jason Jr. .
