Belva was born on October 11, 1942 to Louie Alfred Mortensen and Vesta Donagene Dick in Denver, Colorado. Her younger years were spent in Parker, Colorado on the family dairy farm where Centennial Airport now stands. The family moved to Englewood, Colorado where she finished school, graduating from Englewood High School in 1961.
She worked for several years in oil and gas information before marrying her former husband Robert (Bob) Stover in 1976 and moving to Paonia, Colorado, to live on his family ranch. She returned to the Denver area in 1985 and continued her career in oil and gas information.
Belva was a caregiver at heart, taking care of her children as well as her cats and grand dogs. She loved being outside. You could always find her relaxing in the sunshine. After retirement she spent her time traveling between Colorado and Wyoming visiting family and always willing to lend a hand.
She is proceeded in death by her son Justin Stover.
She is survived by her daughters Teresa (Colin) Barney and Lorie Stover; grandchildren Josie and Tristan Barney; sisters Donna, Kay, and Gay Mortensen; extended family Dave (Cindy) Dragowsky.
A celebration of life for Belva will be held Monday, November 13, 2023 at 1:30 PM followed by a reception at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary & Cemetery, 6601 South Colorado Blvd, Centennial, CO 80121.
In lieu of flowers we’d like donations to go to the Alzheimer’s Association (act.alz.org) or Denver Dumb Friends League (ddfl.org) or one’s local animal shelter.
