Alice Marie Young

Alice, the youngest of three sisters, graduated from Englewood High School in 1957. August 18, 1957, Alice married the soon to be love of her life, Arthur “Art” Young. The couple was blessed with four beloved children: Jolene, James, John and Roxann. Alice welcomed being a grandmother to her seven grandkids and great-grandmother to four children.

Alice and Art were also foster parents for over 30 years, helping kids, showing them love and compassion and giving them a fighting chance at life! Alice enjoyed many activities and hobbies, including sewing, knitting, crocheting, being a seamstress, making clothes for as many kids as possible and designing and sewing tap dancing costumes. Alice also loved scratch tickets and gambling in Black Hawk. She enjoyed tap dancing and swimming at the YMCA. She would take trips to Hawaii and long cruises as much as she could. But Alice most of all loved her gardening and working in her yard; tending to her rose bushes and flower beds. Alice always encouraged her children to pursue their own lives and interests, where ever that took them.

Loving her family more than anything, Alice took great interest in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Never passing judgement, she was the most compassionate and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was always there to give anyone a hug, wipe their tears and give words of encouragement. Everything she did was with lots of love.

Alice would fight her battle with Alzheimer’s in her later years. Always happy, gracious and thankful until passing away peacefully.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Alice Reffel, her sisters Darlene and Carol and husband Arthur P. Young. Alice is survived by her children, Jolene (Jack from Olathe, CO), James (Patty from Boncarbo, CO), John (Susan from Brighton, CO) and Roxann from Denver, CO.

Alice adored her grandchildren: Chuck, Venessa, Jessica, Kelvin, Jonathan, Elisha, Marissa, Miquel, Joshua, Carlos and Tony. Blessed as well with great-grandchildren: Kayla, Juliet, Ethan, and Zoey.

All who knew Alice, loved her deeply and she will be missed terribly. We love you Alice!
