On December 10, 2021, at 4:45 p.m., Peter Scott Gunder’s address unexpectedly changed from Earth to Heaven, and he ran straight into the arms of his beloved Father in Glory. Peter’s journey from five-to-zero is now complete, and he is now playing a brand-new song on the most beautiful piano for Jesus.
Peter was born on April 12, 1973, in Kittery, Maine. He was the second of four children born to Ron and Pat Gunder. Growing up, the Gunder family lived in several locations stretching across New Hampshire, Texas, Colorado and Jakarta, Indonesia. Peter graduated from Jakarta Intercultural School in Indonesia, and immediately transitioned into Youth with a Mission (YWAM) where he traveled all over Asia to Hong Kong, Singapore, China, Taiwan, and the Philippines to share the love of God with others. He later moved to Denver, Colorado where he worked with Orchard Road Christian Center as part of their worship team. Peter also lived in Nashville, Tennessee, Los Angeles, California, and Cape Town, South Africa as he pursued the musical calling on his life.
Peter dedicated his life to the adoration of God, expressed through music. A gifted musician, Peter began playing the piano at the age of 5 and was already composing music by the age of 7. By the time he was a teenager, he began playing for local churches and youth groups. In the years that followed, Peter expanded his repertoire to include music production, composition and production keyboards. He composed music for many popular video games and also produced dozens of professional music libraries including Kingdom of Light. He also had a heart to mentor younger musicians, and as such, he became a teacher and opened his own private piano teaching studio. Over a 20-year span, Peter taught hundreds of students ranging in age from 5 to 75, offering everything from private piano lessons to music production, composition, music theory and production keyboards.
Peter married the love of his life, Elenie, on November 11, 2017, at BridgeWay Church in Denver. Their love story was a hallmark of God’s goodness and provision. The intensity of their love for one another achieved the depth of decades in just four short years.
He is survived by his beloved wife Elenie Gunder of Parker, parents Ron and Pat Gunder of Colorado Springs, brother and sister-in-love Paul and Tamara Gunder of Colorado Springs, sister and brother-in-love Tricia and J.R. Osborne of Greenwood Village, niece and nephew-in-love Tiffany and Chris Faul of Colorado Springs, great niece and great nephew Evie Faul and Rhett Faul of Colorado Springs, mother-in-love Chris Wirth of Rochester New, York; and a long list of friends and family from around the world. Peter is preceded in death by his younger brother, Joseph Michael Gunder.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, December 19, 2021, at 3:00 p.m. at Peter’s home church, BridgeWay Church, located at 5201 E. Warren Ave., Denver, CO 80222. The family will be gathering together to share favorite memories, stories, to laugh, to cry, and remember the beauty and fullness that was Peter. The celebration will also be live-streamed online at https://bridgeway.us/watch/, for those who are located out-of-town or out-of-country and are unable to attend in person.
