Jim was born on January 27th, 1930, in Chicago, Illinois to Edward T. and Anna Gallagher Burke. He graduated from St. Leo High School in 1948 and attended the University of Illinois, receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering in 1952. He served in the Army at White Sands Proving Ground, New Mexico from 1955 to 1957. Jim met his wife, Carol, and they married in January 1964, raising four wonderful children.
Jim worked for Holophane Lighting Company for 27 years in management, marketing, and sales. After retirement from Holophane, he started his own consulting firm specializing in energy efficient lighting market evaluations and recommendations. Jim was a Past Grand Knight (1997-1998), and 4th Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Joseph Assembly #2618, Council 8909.
Jim is survived by his wife Carol, children Terri (Tod), Mike (Sophia), Karen (Barry), Dan (Sandy) and his six grandchildren, Nicole, Connor, Aidan, Owen, Allee and Leah. He is also survived by nephew Dennis (Sharon) and family. He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings (Ed and Eleanor) and niece (Katherine).
Rosary will be Thursday, November 30th, 2023, at 9:30 am at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 2746 Fifth St., Castle Rock, Colorado 80104. Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 am with a luncheon reception immediately following at the parish.
Jim treasured time spent with family and friends. He touched many lives and will be greatly missed.
