Jack Erven Coulter of Sedalia, Colorado passed away unexpectedly on November 14, 2024. He was born in Portland, Oregon on January 8, 1948 to Erven & Virginia (Moroney) Coulter. In 1957, the Coulter family relocated to Colorado where they raised their family. Jack attended school in Penrose, Cañon City, and graduated from Air Academy High in Colorado Springs in 1967.
Jack is survived by his wife, Jo-Ann J. Pacheco, son Jared (Hallie) Pacheco Coulter and precious granddaughter Letty Ann. He is also survived by his mother Virginia and his 5 sisters Barbara, Chris (Ben) Morgan, Susan, Joanie, & Teresa (Dean) Bangert. His sister-in-law Etta Pacheco (Robb) Fernandez, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins & friends.
He is preceded in death by his father Erven & brother Jerry.
In 1968, Jack enlisted in the Army & was sent to Vietnam the same year, where he serviced for almost two years. During his time in Vietnam, he was a helicopter mechanic and flew cover for Medevac.
Upon returning home, he worked construction for his dad and continued on to work as a heavy equipment operator for various construction companies throughout the state of Colorado.
He was a member of the VFW Colorado Springs as well as of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Parish, Castle Rock, where he served as a hospitality minister and was on the Emergency Response Team (ERT).
Jack retired in 2018 from Scott Contracting after this time he continued to work at his home, taking the opportunity to restore his old trucks & tractors, as a true motorhead.
In a turning point of the family's life, his brother-in-law Billy Pacheco passed away, so much of Jack's retirement time revolved around working with his son Jared on the Pacheco Ranch, west of Waldenburg.
Jack enjoyed helping everybody & anybody anytime. He loved to eat pizza, hot dogs, Bud's Bar burgers, watch the Broncos & drink beer.
He will be sadly missed by all his family and friends.
Visitation for Jack will be held Friday, November 22, 2024 from 10:00-10:30 AM at St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, with a Rosary being recited at 10:30 AM. Funeral mass will begin at 11:00 AM. Graveside services will occur Monday, November 25, 2024 at 11:30 AM at North Veta Cemetery in Walsenburg, Colorado.
