My dear brother Joey, I haven’t seen you in years but so sorry we did not reconnect, you have such beautiful children and I would have loved to have known them.  I am heartbroken that you left everyone at an early age and haven’t finished living your best yet. I do miss you and I am sure you are with Mom, Dad and our two brothers and my daughter Lisa. My dear brother Joey, I just am so heart broken that you are gone. I heard Frank Sinatra singing Summer Wind and just broke down, I know we both shared that song as one of our favorites growing up. I am deeply sorry for your wife Eva and the children. You are with Mom, Dad and your two brothers and your niece. I will always think of you and miss you.

Joe was one of the most genuine, loving, and heroic human beings I have ever met. My family and I had the lovely pleasure of being the Pollack’s neighbors in Castle Rock. I was a very young child at the time (this was back in 2001-2005) but the memories I have of the parties, the fun we had sledding down our own ‘private’ sledding hill immediately outside our yards, will always be cherished by my family and I.  He always looked out for my family.  While many people remember Joe’s heroism for the tragic STEM school shooting, I am eternally grateful and indebted to Joe for a different school shooting. December 13th, 2013, God put Joe in the parking lot right across from Arapahoe High School.  When the first shots ran out, Joe was one of our first responders.  He bravery in the face of danger was indescribable, while most run away from gunshots, Joe ran towards them.  His actions that day saved myself, my friends, and my classmates. It brings tears to my eyes to write this, but thank you Joe. Thank you for saving us. Please watch after Claire and the other school shooting victims in Heaven, and please continue to protect those of us left behind on this earth. You will always be loved and needed♥️

              I was remembering yesterday evening,  about how Joe took such excellent care of me once, when I became ill,  at church. He kept bringing me water, ice, and asking how I was doing. He even offered to drive me home, in case I needed it, about 3 times.....Just making sure that I was ok. 
            I loved listening to his New York accent. 
            And I most especially loved how he greeted those that came in, just like he was one of our official greeters'. Our church loved him, and it was evident that he loved us too. 
          He was such a kind, giving, humble, and friendly, soul. Even though I didn't know him well, I am grieving for the loss of him, as if we were close. Maybe it's because I felt like I had a friend in Joe. He was so easy to like. And I would have liked to have had the chance to know him better. However, I am grateful for the chance I had to get to know him, as much as I did.
           I remember one time, he said to me, " Every time I see you, you're smiling, Jennifer." I said, " That's because I have a lot to smile about and to be grateful for, Joe".
        Goodbye Joe. Thank you for the gift of your friendship. You are, and will be missed by many, probably so many more,  than you ever would have imagined. Until we meet again. And thank you for your service, Joe. 
         My heart and prayers go out to Joe's wife and children, especially this day. We grieve with you. You are in our thoughts and prayers. 

Joe meant so much to my family…he was a dear dear friend to my parents Nella and Tony Russo from Mulberry Street.  Once they passed he made it a point to always check in and see how we were. Such good good man. The Pollack family will be in our prayers. This is truly heartbreaking 💔 

“Our favorite policeman” is how we referred to officer Joe. My 4 year old son and I met him at foundry church and just seeing him each week and saying hi was a highlight of going to church for us both. Officer Joe was so kind and he treated my son like he was the most special little guy. He also always made sure we went home with lots of donuts and even saved a cup for my son the week they weren’t put out for everyone. His small acts of kindness made a HUGE impression on me and my son and we are so saddened to not get to see him again and smile and laugh with him. Anyone who knew him was blessed as we only saw a glimmer into the amazing man that officer Joe was. Our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. 

As Rolf & I drive from our home in Canada back to our beloved Colorado to honour our friend, Joe, we have been reminiscing about him & his family & the fun times we shared with them. We first met Joe, Eva, Caitlyn & Kelsey when they moved from their home in New York, next door to us in Castle Rock in September 2001. We actually did not meet Joe until after Eva & the girls arrived because he had turned around to head back to New York to give his service to others in the aftermath of 9/11…& right there, that selfless act sums up Joe…a kind, caring, compassionate, giving, & brave man.

We quickly became friends with the Pollack’s…& true to his nature (this is true of Eva as well) Joe showed himself to be a “give the shirt off his back” mensch. Even after we left Colorado to move back to Canada, we stayed in touch, & no matter how much time passed between visits & text messages, it was always easy to “pick up where we left off” with our friends, Joe & Eva, & their family…we will forever treasure the memories of the fun & happy times we shared with them all. 

We knew Joe as a devoted family man who fiercely loved his wife, Eva, & children, Caitlyn, Kelsey & Joseph. We will always remember with fondness the ever-present twinkle in his eyes, his prankster nature (he received as good as he gave!), & his “forget about it” in that unique New Yorker way!

We will always be grateful to Joe for being one of the first officers to arrive at AHS when he responded to an active shooter call…Kat was a freshman in her science class that day. His dedication & service to others, especially children, will never be forgotten.

We’ve lost a great one far too early. Rest In Peace, Joe.

We are deeply saddened with the loss of Officer Joe. Officer Joe was a “ray of sunshine”  at our church. Officer Joe was always smiling and shared conversation with our entire family even with each of my kids. Everyone in our family felt the warmth and the joy that Officer Joe radiated. Our entire family are praying for his family and that they may know and experience the comfort and peace of our Lord Jesus Christ in this very difficult time.

Our family looked forward to and loved seeing  Joe at church each Sunday. Our boys enjoyed seeing him when they came back from college.  He will be greatly missed. We are so so sorry he is gone. 

We attended Foundry Church at the height of the epidemic. During that time, we moved our mother to Castle Pines to keep her healthy. Foundry Church and the Beautiful People were a breath of fresh air to our family. This Officer was an exceedingly Kind and Considerate Gentleman. God Bless Him.

Officer Joe was more than our church's security man, he was a wonderful and caring man. Loved to tease him about his New York accent. He knew it and was glad to be in Colorado. We will so miss his presence, his humor and the man he was. God Bless Joe

Joe will be missed!  Joe was such a light at Foundry Church!  He was our security officer on Sunday's and he pitched right in and helped even though he was not expected to.  He was so caring of others. 
He'd shared wonderful stories and photos with my husband and I.  He sure loved his family and talked about them often.  When our little 4 year-old grandson, Wesley,  was with us sometimes for set-up, Wesley was in awe of being that close Officer Joe and Joe put Wesley to work! Joe would tell me, "I like that kid!  He's a good helper!"   We are so honored to have known you.  Thank you, Officer Joe!  

Joe was our security officer at Foundry Church. He was a kind, funny, remarkable man!! He helped with set up and take down each Sunday. We saw him as a part of our church family!! He will be sorely missed!! We love you, Joe! 

Joe I am still in shock . I can’t believe your gone . You were a great cop and an even better friend . You were one of the best cops to ever wear the NYPD uniform . Every time we heard of some shooting in Colorado with the police involved we wondered if it was you and it was twice . I’m sure your brothers in Colorado will miss your witt and bravery . You served your country well . You will be sorely missed R.I.P. Brother . I’m sure you and Bobby are together again . 

We are so thankful for the last 18 years knowing Joe and his family. Joe leaves a hole in our hearts. Joe has taken a piece of our hearts and will always be remembered as a fun loving person with a heart of gold. Joe has touched many of peoples lives. You will always be missed. 
Eva we will always be here for you and the family. Please don’t hesitate to call us anytime.

Joe, I'm still in shock.  You brought so much light to an otherwise dark world.  Your absence is already felt.  Eva and the kids will be taken care of, "don't worry about it!".   I will forever remember your moose call, working with you in the Training Unit, us being the first members of PCU and all the laughs and advice you shared with me over the 19 years we worked at the office.  I know you wouldn't want us mourning too long for you but you will be missed sorely.  Rest easy brother, your family will be wrapped in our support.  Until we meet again my friend.

Both my wife Lori and I worked with Joe in Chinatown.  Talk about a standup guy ex marine. I used to be so happy when Joe and Bobby showed up on the scene.  After he left the nypd we used to make fun of him for moving to Arkansas (to us Arkansas, Colorado same thing).   Joe was an old school cop who took care of things without the “help” of supervisors. He knew the best places to eat.  Eva if you’re reading this Lori and I are so sorry. 

Joe  was one of the most caring, funny and brave police officers I ever had the privelage of working with.  He was a "standup" cop who was always their when you needed him and who the young newer officers looked up to and aspired to be.  I will never forget you Joe. Give Bobby and my Allie a hug for me.  God bless you and your beautiful family.

I worked with Joe in the NYPD. He is a class act. Always witty, always there if you need him. I have fond memories of his humorous antics and his warm heart to those who were in need. Great cop. My sincerest condolences to Eva and the family. May God bless you all and may Joe Rest In Peace. 

For me, the best word to describe Joe is laughter.  There was always a lot of laughter when you were in his presence.  That along with the warm hospitality that was always extended by him and his wife, Eva, when guests in their home. He will be missed and now he will keep the angels laughing. Thank you for your dedication and service  to our country. 

I met Joe the year after he had moved himself and his family  to Colorado from NY.  We were surprised to realize he had known my Uncles from NY and I had a strong connection with him as we shared many stories of where we came from. 
He  pulled a gag on my wife and my son that had us laughing for weeks and was there for me many times when I needed him. 
I hadn’t seen Joe recently but I can tell you he was a class act and a very special man, father and Detective. He loved his family very much and Joe had a gentle soul, Heaven gained a very special Angel. 
Joe I will always hold you in my heart my friend and I will never forget what you had done for me, many times. I love you brother and I will think of you always and keep you in my heart, my dear friend. 
My heart goes out to his wife and children during this difficult time but I want them to know Joe was loved by many because of the person he was to all.
