He was born on February 17th, 1969 to Darrell Jones Sr. and Frankie Versage. He was married to Stephanie Renee (Traynor) Jones on September 2nd, 1988.
He Served in the United States Army National Guard and Colorado National Guard for a combined 15 years and received numerous accommodations for going above and beyond.
As a civilian, he always worked with his hands and engineered new ideas – from being a mechanic on vehicles to heavy machinery to being a HVAC supervisor to the outcasts, who just needed the opportunity to prove themselves, he watched them learn and shine. He made boys who needed a chance into men, those men turned into brothers.
Darrell Jr. is survived by his wife, Stephanie; daughter, Ashley; son-in-law, Brian; son, Richard (RJ); son, Brandon; daughter-in-law, Amanda; Proud Papa to Jarrod, Leonidas, and Kenna; those he called sons, Lon, Anthony, and Garrison; mother, Frankie; father, Darrell Sr.; mother, Dorothy; sister, Debbie – husband, Ron and family; sister, Danielle (Dani) – husband, Chris and family; sister, Samantha (Sam) – husband, Brent and family; and many more including his aunts, uncles, numerous cousins, in-law family, nieces, nephews, and friends who he treated as family.
To know Darrell is to know he was a man who could fix all things like a true MacGyver. Usually if he helped to fix something, he would leave you, problem fixed and a story that taught you. It was more than fixing, it was learning life from a man with his heart for his family and friends – always ensuring they were safe and protected.
He is loved dearly by so many and missed. It’s the stories and knowledge he shared that will comfort all during these times and will continue to remind of his goodness and love.
To honor Darrell, we ask in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your local homeless shelter of gloves, socks, winter beanies, blankets, coats, or your time to serve them a meal, kindness or any need just as he did every Sunday.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.OlingerAndrews.com for the Jones family.
