"Char" Charlone Cecile Cordes

"Char" Charlone Cecile Cordes, age 81, of Concord, California passed away in Castle Rock, Colorado on Monday, November 27, 2023. She was born June 8, 1942 in St. Louis, Missouri to Charles and Ione Gallina.

Char was the second youngest of five children. She moved around a lot growing up, starting in Missouri traveling to Florida and ending up in California. She worked in a photo center, old school hamburger shop, as a certified phone operator and a candle maker before finding her passion in the medical industry. She started as a CNA in the O.B. department and ended as a admissions clerk at John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, CA.

She met "Sonny" Herman Cordes at Shakey's Pizza Parlor in Concord, CA. They were married for 51 and a half years and raised five wonderful children. They enjoyed camping, fishing and traveling. She attended all her children's sporting events. Her greatest passion was spending time with her family and going to the casino with her daughter. She enjoyed all the family pets but her favorite was her black poodle, Teko Bandit.

She retired from John Muir Medical Center after over 20 years and bought a motorhome, sold the house and hit the road for 23 years. She and Sonny traveled to places such as Canada, Mexico and most of the US. After retiring from the road, they retired to Castle Rock, CO, to live with their youngest son, and her favorite daughter-in-law. She enjoyed watching true crime shows, playing iPad video slots, bingo and any chance she had to go to the casino. She truly enjoyed the family time playing farkle during game nights, shopping and family dinners. Char enjoyed watching Sonny out in the garden, tending to his harvest and playing with the dogs. He was her one true love!

Together they had 5 children, 5 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren and number 6 on the way.
